It seems that the recession is a thing of the past in the US, as the auto market there is (and has been) growing for a while now. Last month, a gain of 22% was recorded in sales figures, a gain brought about mainly thanks to Toyota and Honda, the market leaders. This increase in sales means that 1.29-million cars were sold last month, this in turn adjusting the annual sales rate, from 13.8- to 14.1-million.
Also, considering the fact that the Japanese auto industry has regained its full capacity and is now growing, following last year’s disaster, and factoring in the fact that Japanese brands, Toyota and Honda are market leaders, the US auto market must be very grateful to Japan for providing enough new cars to sustain the growth, as the domestic brands could never have kept up with demand. Following the two, GM has also registered the largest gain in 9 months - a slightly underwhelming 16%.
