Riding a sidecar motorcycle is an experience every rider should get through at some point. However, doing it requires you to rewire your brain as it maneuvers totally different from a standard two-wheeler. Luckily, Ural Motorcycles made a funny tutorial for you.
Unless your grandfather hasn’t preserved one in his house, your only chance to ride a classic sidecar motorcycle that is also new is buying a Ural. If you’ve been hiding in a cave so far, yes, the company is still alive and kicking, making classic motorcycles in Russia and exporting them throughout the globe, including the USA.

Starting at $13,000, the Ural cT is the company’s entry-level sidecar bike, and it comes in either Gloss Grey or Terracotta. Power comes from a 749 cc flat-twin that generates 41 hp and 42 lb-ft of torque.

It looks almost exactly as Ural’s bikes of the past, but it comes with modern features such as an electric starter, fuel injection, and hydraulic disc brakes. Oh, and it’s as sturdy as a mule, because the spec sheet says you can carry up to 1,325 lb on it.

Sounds awesome and you are already starting to save money and buy one before next year’s Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride, but are you ready to “ride” it without wrecking the first half mile?

You should know that riding such a contraption makes your previous riding skills useless. First of all, you can’t lean the bike, and there’s no way you can countersteer it either.

Then you have to always remember the fact that you can give it the beans on a straight line, but you’ll have to slow down a lot before turning. Of course, there are many other tricks to be learned, but I’ll let you discover them in Ural’s funny instructional video below.
