Ural Mir Limited Edition Has Landed as Promised, Looks Stellar

The availability of this machine adds a new dimension to the term “limited”. To understand why you should already be on your way to the nearest Ural dealer or at least on the phone with them and make threats if they don’t reserve one for you… there are only 20 Mir bikes made for the US market. And the rest of the word is not getting too many of these, either. But since making threats is sort of illegal around the world, you can also make a deposit online and secure your new Ural Mir.

Touring, space and green accessories are on the house

Ural has prepared a very neat package for the 20 lucky customers who will get the Mir. Just like we got used in the last years, Ural is not making changes on the tech side, but will offer top-notch paint job and awesome accessories.

Even more, as Ural has massively upgraded its bikes with premium shock absorbers, hydraulic steering dampers, Brembo brakes and electronic fuel injection, there was rather little they could do more in this direction, save for some killer aftermarket exhausts, maybe.

The solar cell will allow you to use low-current draw accessories, (trickle) charge your battery and maintain its health. The solar panel can be removed and replaced with a luggage rack. While the sidecar winsdhields were common from the early days, seeing the new Ural Mir arriving with a MRA vario adjustable winscreen is really stellar, just like the bespoke Orbital White Metallic with blue pearl, clear varnish paint. Kind of not cool to wade freezing or wild muddy rivers with such a paint, but life is tough.

Specs and price are not that wild

If you know one or two things about Ural bikes, you kind of know what to expect. 749cc of air-cooled boxer might, 41 hp at 5,500 rpm and 42 lb-ft (57 Nm) of torque at 4,300 revs, EFI, electric and kick start and a most useful switchable sidecar wheel drive for when the going gets tough. And Urals are made for exactly this!

The bike will start shipping in November 2014 with a base MSRP of $16,999. The Ural Mir has not been announced for Europe at the moment of writing so prices across the pond are not known yet.
