Upgraded Nissan GT-R, Available from December

Japanese manufacturer Nissan announced today the tweaked version of the GT-R will become available starting December 7, at prices beginning from 8,610,000 yen ($94,951).

The upgrades brought to the GT-R include first and foremost the recalibrated suspension settings and an improved-flow catalyst system. The topping on the cake are the new HDD-based CARWINGS navigation system.

The new suspension system fitted on the GT-R includes increased-accuracy front shock absorbers and springs in the front and stiffer rear suspension, achieved by strengthening the radius rod bushings.

As a bonus, Nissan decided to fit non-SpecV GT-R models with the same rear diffusers with cooling ducts, until now available only on the SpecV models.

For the SpecV, the Japanese carmaker decided to go for revised rear shock absorber settings and add Dunlop tires as standard, with Bridgestone ones to be offered as a factory-installed options.

The GT-R's engine, regardless of the version, has also suffered minor modifications, now achieving improved low- and mid-range engine response. The improvements, although not detailed by the manufacturer in terms of performance, were achieved thanks to the new hexagonal meshed catalyst cells that reduce ventilation/airflow resistance.

The GT-R uses a 3.8l twin turbo V6 engine, controlled through paddle-shifted dual clutch rear transmission. The engine provides around 485 horsepower.

Despite the newly announced tweaks, all eyes are already on the rumored upcoming model of the GT-R. Set to enter the market in 2013 model, the future GT-R is said will draw quite a lot of cash and attention from Nissan and its engineers.
