Upcoming Polo Sedan to Use Vento Name for India

The upcoming sedan version of the Volkswagen Polo will receive the Vento name for the Indian market, Autocar India reported.

The visual changes that will be featured on the latest member of the Polo family will be a new front grille, restyled headlights and the obvious B pillar-onwards redesign. Underneath, the car will use a 50 mm longer wheelbase. These modifications will allow the vehicle to offer an improved rear seat room and a 500 liters luggage space. The overall weight of the car is only expected to increase by approximately 100 kg.

The sedan will receive higher equipment levels than the ones currently available on the Polo, possibly offering some features borrowed from the upper segments VW vehicles. The company’s engineers have developed new seat cushions for the car, which offer an improved level of comfort and make the vehicle suitable for longer journeys.

When the Vento goes on sale, it is expected to be available with a choice of two 1.6 liter engines, both offering 105 hp: the first one will be a naturally aspirated petrol unit that will use four valves per cylinder and a double overhead cam and will offer a torque of 155 Nm. The diesel powerplant will use common rail diesel injection and turbocharging to deliver a torque of 250 Nm. Both engines will be offered with a five speed manual gearbox.

The Vento is expected to enter the Indian automotive market in July. Volkswagen has great expectations from the model, as it counts on it to attract multiple types of customers.
