The first time we got excited over the possibility of the Bronco Pickup Truck was in July 2020 thanks to a dealer document from the Ford Motor Company. The said piece of paper confirmed the ladder-frame chassis for the next Ranger, which is likely going to roll out in 2022 as a 2023 model.
Also in July 2020, consumer marketing manager Mark Grueber told Automotive News that more models are under consideration for the Bronco sub-brand. According to Dave Pericak, whose current role is head honcho of Ford Icons, any future spinoff will be worthy of the Bronco badge.
The final piece of the puzzle comes courtesy of an unlisted video on the Dearborn-based automaker’s YouTube channel, titled “How Innovative Design Led to the all-new Bronco and Bronco Sport.” For a brief moment at the 1:14 mark, you can see a design study of the Bronco with a small bed and a SuperCrew-style cabin. Now skip to 1:58 to see a different proposition with seating for five and a rather small cargo area for a mid-sized pickup.
Don’t know about you, but every little piece of information we’ve been fed so far serves as a preview for the Broncotruck that would challenge the Wrangler-styled Jeep Gladiator. If Ford makes a case for the Sasquatch Package too, then you can add the Gladiator Rubicon to that list.
According to Automobile Magazine, the earliest we’ll see the Bronco Pickup is 2022, probably as a 2023 model. If the Ford Motor Company hits a rough patch in terms of production output or quality issues, then 2024 as a 2025 model would be the worst-case scenario for the new body style.
In related news, have you heard that Ford is preparing to take the veils off the all-new Raptor? February 3rd is when the Baja truck will go live, and a few months after the grand reveal, FoMoCo is expected to add a unibody pickup to the lineup in the guise of the Bronco Sport-based Maverick.
