A car dealer in Rochester, New Hampshire, has outraged Internet users and our newsroom with a disturbing offer.
While not the first of its type, the “free gun with purchase” deal is insensible in the light of USA’s worst ever mass shooting. A dealer called Hagan’s Motor Pool offers buyers of second-hand vehicles a free firearm with every purchase.
According to Fox25Boston, several people have taken up the deal. Unfortunately, we do not know if they were more interested in the guns or the cars, but four people received free AR-15 assault rifles with the acquisition of a used car.
Another customer got a 9mm handgun, as they requested another deal, which suddenly seems sensible when compared to the advertised option.
The owner of the car dealer, Mike Hagan, is a combat veteran who served in Afghanistan, and says he does not sense any guilt on his conscience that the customers who received free guns from his deal could kill others.
This unthoughtful point of view is disturbing to us, especially since you would expect a war veteran to understand the harmful effects of guns. Fortunately, any potential customer interested in the deal must pass a background check. Hagan provides the weapons through the nearby gun store, which has probably signed a deal with the car vendor.
