It's always amazing to see how well some retro bikes have fared after more than half a century, and this BSA Gold Star is a wonderful example that old glory does not fade easily.
This Gold Star belongs to Franck from Rad Motorcycles Magazine and is an 1961 model, almost entirely stock, save for 2 minor modifications. Believe it or not, the old British lady was never restored and what you see is all original paint, luster and attitude.

As Rad's acronym stands for "Radical, Authentic and Different", we daresay that Franck's BSA is one of the best badges for the mag.

This Birmingham Small Arms beauty is powered by a punchy 499cc single which can deliver a hefty 42 HP @ 6,500 rpm, a RRT2 gearbox and original drum brakes. The fake large-drill discs are just for showing off and tricking the youngsters.

The alloy rims are also Dunlop originals, just like the Lyta alloy shiny fuel tank which can hold 18 liters (4.75 US gal). A classic Amall MK2 carburetor is to be found on this machine, instead of the Amal GP.

Now, it's obvious that all the chaps who've ever owned this BSA Gold Star loves it quite a lot and took extremely good care of it, but still it's not a restored bike, and this makes it even cooler. Thanks Mot Art for sharing.
