Sources from the Hollywood world are reporting that Universal Pictures, the studio behind the latest movie of the famous franchise “Fast and Furious”, are trying to get a record-breaking $50 million off late Paul Walker’s insurance. That happens shortly after efforts to finish the film made the initial budget to short.
You guys probably already know that Universal Pictures has allegedly payed more money using CGI (computer-generated imagery) technology and Walker’s brothers, 25-year old Cody and 36-year old Caleb, to finish the movie having him still in it. It seems the costs were bigger than if they would’ve just started a new one.
Even though a source close to the project told Hollywoodreporter.com the storyline has not changed drastically, the project will probably pass the initial budget of $200 million with at least $50 million. “They are finishing the film more or less as scripted, replacing Paul with [computer-generated] face replacement”, the source declared.
It has recently emerged that Universal is claiming the money spent on the entire process from Fireman’s Fund, the company where the movie star had his insurance.
That might seem a bit weird, but we’ll remind you that production companies claiming insurance following deaths or injuries of movie stars during filming isn’t quite that new. According to gtspirit.com, in 1994, an insurance claim of a total $20 million was made when John Candy died while filming Wagons East!.
