Simply calling the 2020 C8 Chevrolet Corvette a popular car is like saying Lady Gaga or Usher are mere singers. So, if one needs to stand out in a crowd full of “America’s sports cars,” there’s no other way than resorting to spectacular aftermarket tricks.
After all, getting a Torch Red eighth-generation is only going to make you seem like a sensible and subtle buyer, given the color makes the C8 look like America’s version of the Prancing Horse. So, in case you’re still committed to the shade and want your personality known, there’s an interesting option coming up for sale during an auction later this month.
The Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale event that’s coming to Arizona (March 20-23 are the preview days, March 24 through 27 are the car show days) will have on the red carpet a customized Torch Red 3LT example from the 2020 model year, offered at no reserve.
Its main feature is, of course, the special-order Pandem C8 Widebody aero kit. There are so few out there at the moment that it’s virtually impossible for one to pass unnoticed, especially when sporting other goodies such as the 20-inch front/21-inch rear Alpha One carbon fiber wheels wrapped in sticky Pirelli rubber.
This ‘Vette is not only a looker (we’ll let you pass judgment if that’s for the better or worse as Pandem isn’t exactly everyone’s cup of tea), but it’s also enhanced with a C8 Valvetronic Maxflo exhaust tune sporting neat-looking carbon-fiber tips.
Other important listing details include the actual odometer count of merely 700 miles (a little over 1,120 km) as well as the long list of factory options. Of note among them are the Z51 performance package for the “mildly tuned” 6.2-liter V8 engine, the GT2 two-tone sport seats, or the Bose high-end audio system.
Inside the cabin, there’s also custom leather upholstery for the instrument panel and the doors, while all of the Corvette’s 3LT creature comforts are also present. So, it’s going to be interesting to see if the bidding goes haywire on this heavily modified Corvette or ends up as a lost bet due to the no reserve powerplay.
