A 1968 Shelby Mustang GT500E Convertible will go under the hammer on April 27th via RM Auctions.
Carol Shelby himself approved the build of this car in 2005, planning to make six more units to offer to the public, marking the first Shelby Mustang convertible to be sold since 1970.

Although the car looks like the famous 1967 GT500, it is actually a modern day car, having a 408 ci (6.7-liter) aluminum fuel-injected V8 engine bolted to a TKO 600 five-speed racing gearbox. Aided by a custom exhaust system, the engine throws 525 bhp to the 17-inch custom rear wheels.

The car has a blue leather interior featuring its creator's name almost everywhere, a Sony AM/FM/CD/MP3 stereo, a “Go Baby Go” shifter with a nitrous button and a central mounted fire extinguisher.

Being the only unit built, its owner Mr. Davis, took good care of it so basically the GT500E is and looks almost brand new. It will be auctioned this week with a starting price of $200,000 (€154,000).
