Unique Pagani Zonda Crashed Near London and It Was Completely Rebuilt in 2009

Is there something going on in the world with Pagani Zonda drivers these days or is it a simple coincidence? First, there was that yellow Pagani Zonda F that hit the kerb and collided with a concrete planter and now this rare model. What’s even worse, it appears the hypercar wasn’t even driven by its rightful owner.

Pictures of the rare beauty have quickly spread on social networks and it appears the car was involved in a frontal crash, in an industrial estate in London on Wednesday. Even though investigation is still ongoing, the driver seems to have lost control of the car thus hitting the metal fence and seriously damaging the bodywork. Fortunately nobody was hurt, yet the cost of the repairs will most likely hurt the owner’s bank account.

The worst part is that it’s not even the first time the hypercar was involved in a crash. The vehicle is in fact a Zonda S that was previously owned by Scottish gas industry tycoon Gareth Jones. Back in 2009, it was involved in its first accident. The driver’s identity was never disclosed, yet rumors are F1 legend Jackie Stewart was in fact holding the wheel at the moment of impact.

Point is, Gareth sent it back to the Pagani factory where it was rebuilt into what now is a Zonda GJ. The car was finished in matte carbon and received a front wing upgrade and intake scoops located on the rear wheel arches, among other amenities. Gareth later sold it to a different owner, who, according to The Telegraph, is a businessman from the Far East. And get this, it wasn't even the owner driving the car when the Zonda crashed near London.

This particular ride might seem like it was jinxed, but we sure hope the damage is not that bad and they won't declare it totaled. After all we’re looking at more than a million dollars in vehicle bits here...
