The 2016 Focus RS has a Drift Mode. It's simple to use and while being a brilliant asset, it has its limitations. By now, you'd think everybody got the sliding picture, understanding how to use the shenanigan feature. Well, you'd be wrong - apparently, there are Focus RS drivers out there who couldn't drift to save their lives, yet still engage in such activities.
We're talking about the guy behind the wheel of the manic Blue Oval compact in the video below, who was proudly attending a NY ST Club drive when he suddenly decided to go all Ken Block.

As it turned out, he hadn't practiced and scripted his runs like Mr. Block does, so he slid his way into the cliff wall on the outside (going up) of the 44/55 Hairpin, just outside New Paltz, NY.

Having hoplessly misjudged the radius of his powerslide, the wannabe drifter ruined the fun for everybody (tons of STs had stopped for pictures). He did put on a monster show, even though this is the wrong kind of spectacle - the once-hot hatch bounced off the wall, showing the impact speed was not exactly the negligible kind.

Speaking of which, while the driver may be unworthy of his machine, the Focus RS proved it's as tough as a rally car - check out the wheels on the right side, which took quite a blow, and you'll understand - do they build it Ford Tough?

Let's hope this serves as a lesson towards the Drift Mode being kept for the track. A piece of tuition, which, by the way, this driver learned the hard way. Not only did he drift-crash his car, but he was also excommunicated: "NYST (The NY ST Club) does not condone or approve of this reckless behavior on public roadways. The offending person was immediately booted from our club. We practice safety on the road during our cruises, and actions such as this will be dealt with ZERO TOLERANCE. Take it to the track, if you want to drive like this,"

Update 1: In a totally surprising manner, somebody was displeased with the crash footage making it online, so levers were pulled and now the video has become private. You know, unavailable.

Update 2:Nowadays, it's nearly impossible to convince the internet to cool down at times, so, without further ado, here's another source for the Focus RS crash footage:
