Unbelievable Crash in Russian Superbike

Motorcycle racing is one of the solid sources for footage of crazy crashes, but what you’re about to see is definitely a thing we just don’t stumble upon every day.

Acording to the watermark, we’re dealing with RSBK, which (in this case) stands for the Russian Superbike series. The lack of relevant data prevents us from telling whether this is racing action, practice or qualifying, but given the ultra-high degree of craziness, it probably doesn’t matter too much.

In complete disregard with the most basic racing safety precautions, the eager rider approaching from behind seems to ignore that both he and the guy in front of him are approaching a turn, so hard braking is imminent. The rider causing this incredible crash fails to slow down in time or avoid impacting the rear wheel of the bike in front of him, acting like a mindless rookie, seemingly being under the target fixation “spell”.

The impact is quite severe, despite his visibly desperate braking. The very powerful front wheel braking causes his bike to buck and do a front flip, but what comes next seems almost impossible. The incoming bike apparently wedges its front cowl under the seat of the frontrunner as it starts the front flip, literally lifting it off the ground and causing a “chain flip” which unfortunately seems to have injured the innocent rider quite a lot, as he can barely move towards the side of the track.

We’ve watched this crash several times in a row to figure out what happened, and still believe that the odds for such an incident were rather null… until it actually happened. Or maybe the second rider's  brakes failed?
