Traffic awareness is most likely the most important thing a motorcycle operator must learn really quickly. Well, at least it's the most important next to actually learning how to ride the bike on public roads.
Being able to observe what's going on ahead and on either side of the bike is mandatory for making it back home safely. Even more, taking an occasional peek in the mirrors is also a very good habit, as it's been more than once when rider observed incoming cars and were able to get out of the harm's way as they rear-ended the stopped traffic.
Now, the rider in this video has most likely learned a lot of lessons from his crash: watching out for the cars ahead, always look for escape routes and why not, braking a bit more confidently. Given the fact that he was riding a Ninja 250R ABS, there was surely plenty more stopping power on tap to avoid collision.
