Ultimate Ferrari 458 Compilation Is an Ode to Naturally Aspirated V8s

With Ferrari having retired its 458 a bit early due to the need for fresh firepower on the effervescent supercar scene we get nowadays, the time has come to bring you an ode to the staggering naturally aspirated machine.
The piece of footage at the bottom of the page brings you plenty of intense Ferrari 458 moments, from the Betsafe car doing donuts at last year's Gumball Rally finish to your average 458-in-a-tunnel moment, with both coming to show how much aficionados love this machine.

And people are right to show tons of appreciation to the 488 GTB's predecessor. While the 458 wasn't without its faults, the cocktail of emotions it delivered was so strong that one simply couldn't stay away from such a car.

And perhaps nothing illustrates this idea better than the 458's handling balance. With its F1-style rear diff and electronic assistance, even the "standard" 458 Italia was a drifting instrument as precise as a surgical knife. You simply couldn't drive this car over a series of bends without the episode turning into a memorable one. As for the part covering the issues, the 458 was a bit too tail-happy for its own good. And if you don't believe us, the tons of crash videos all over the web can serve as proof.

And speaking of 458 variations, the one we'd recommend is the Spider. Sure, the Speciale still holds the world record for the greatest specific power output (naturally aspirated), but we're talking daily drivers here. Since the open-top version delivers nearly the same performance as the Coupe, this is the one you should go for.

As for what has happened after Ferrari dealerships stopped displaying 458s, you should know the tuning world currently offers plenty of rather extreme bits and bobs destined for this Prancing Hose, with custom 458s being one of the latest trends out there.
