It must be hard for police officers all over the world when they think of their colleagues in Dubai. Those guys get to drive cars that are more expensive than the ones owned by a bank CEO from where we live each day.
In the UK, you can consider yourself lucky if you get your hands on a BMW 3 Series, because there's always the option of a Ford Focus. And it's not like there aren't enough temptations on the roads there, especially in London where the usual clients of their colleagues from the Middle-East have made a habit of coming to show off their latest, blingiest sets of wheels.

But do you think that the police would stop one of those guys that rev their engines in the streets and perform burnouts? No, of course not. Instead, the pull over a white Lamborghini Huracan with British plates for a routine check. It belonged to a London car-hire company called City Supercars that lends out exotic models for weddings, other special events or just for leisure.

The driver was taking the Lambo to a hotel near Heathrow when he was stopped by the police. Upon inspecting his papers, the officers noticed the car's insurance was expiring that day, and midnight was just a few minutes away. The renewal had already been made, but it didn't feature on the Motor Insurance Database yet so the police said it would confiscate the car.

The driver called the company owner, who is also a lawyer, and he emailed the new insurance documents, but the cops were having none of it. As The Mirror reports, Erwyn Mackee, the manager believes the officers had their mind set on driving the car that night: "It doesn't really make sense, he just wanted to have a bit of drive."

Next morning, the situation was set straight, and Erwyn got the car back. However, upon inspecting its tracker, he could see that the Huracan was driven at speeds of 63, 53, and 47 mph in 30 mph zones after the vehicle entered police custody. We wouldn't be too hard on the officers: after strolling around in a diesel Ford Focus, maintaining the legal speed in a Huracan can be tricky.

He made a formal complaint about the situation (especially since the insurance company will want to have a talk with him about those speeding incidents), but he hasn't received an answer. The Metropolitan Police said it was investigating the matter.
