Recently we saw some pretty ridiculous cars being used by various police forces around the world, the first one popping in my head being from Dubai.
Those guys have almost every supercar of the moment in their fleet, from SLS AMG to Bugatti Veyron. Yeah, they have one of those.
However, if there’s one thing you don’t mess with is British ego. Not wanting to fall behind, the West Midlands Police Force got themselves a McLaren 12C to use mainly for showing off and less for actually catching criminals.
Looking over the introduction of the new police car, I couldn’t help but notice that they also had a BMW i3 in the background, wearing the complete police kit, including those awful blue and yellow colors on the outside.
Could this mean they have a fully functioning i3 in their fleet? You can bet on it! The car looked ready to go out and catch some villains and, despite not being as fast as the McLaren, at least it doesn’t pollute and it’s cheaper to run. That, in our book, is even more important.
This might also very well be the first time an BMW EV was used as a police vehicle and we’d like to congratulate the West Midlands Police for showing initiative. Hopefully more departments will join in.
