UK Only: S-Tronic Sport Tranny for Audi A4 and A5

Audi today announced that its UK version of Audi A4 and A5 will receive the company's S-Tronic Sport transmission system, which is expected to reduce gear shifting by approximately 0.2 seconds. Obviously this leads to some improvements, such as the A4 2.0 TFSI quattro S tronic that is now capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds compared to 6.6 seconds with a manual unit. Top speed is now rated at 150 mph for this particular model while fuel economy achieves 38.2 mpg in combined mode. CO2 emissions are rated at 172 g/km.

The S-Tronic transmission comes as an option for both A4 and A5 models, raising the overall price by 1,420 pounds for each vehicle. A4 2.0 TFSI quattro and A5 2.0 TFSI quattro now costs 27,170 pounds and 31,065 pounds respectively.

“The sporting credentials of both A4 and A5 2.0 TFSI quattro models can not only be enhanced by the new S tronic transmission, but also by the extra cost option of the Audi drive select adaptive dynamics system. With its influence over throttle response, transmission points, steering weighting and damper control Audi drive select delivers the sharpest possible response and the highest degree of poise in all situations,” the German manufacturer praised the transmission box.

Audi also rolled out two new trim lines, namely Executive SE and Executive S, which are now customized with several new features but saves up to 635 pounds over the cost of the individual items.

The Executive SE version features 17-inch alloy wheels, three-zone climate control, cruise control and mobile phone connectors. The S flavor, available for A4 Saloon and Avant models, come with 18-inch alloy wheels, redesigned front and rear bumper, extended side skirts, xenon headlights, LED daytime running lights and sports suspension lowered by 20 mm. The interiors received leather and sport seats, 3-spoke S line sports steering wheel and perforated leather gear knob.
