Malaysian automaker Proton is planning to release three new models on the British market in 2014, Auto Express reports, adding that the vehicles will become available to order in the first quarter of the year.
The company’s most successful export market in sales volume, with more than 150,000 units delivered through 2013, the United Kingdom will get the new Suprima S hatchback, the Exora Bold MPV and the Preve saloon.
There’s no info on powertrain and transmissions, but all three models are motivated by turbocharged 1.6-liter engines on their home market and it’s likely they will be introduced with the same 138 HP mills in the UK as well. Proton is said to offer two transmission options in Britain, a seven-speed CVT and a six-speed manual gearbox.
The new Suprima S will rival the Ford Focus, the Volkswagen Golf, the Peugeot 308 and the Mazda3, four vehicles against which it was benchmarked during development.
