UK Cinemas Ready for the 'I, Superbiker' Movie

The “I, Superbiker” motorcycling documentary film is to be presented in a special screening at 30 cinemas across the UK, for one night only on March 14, 2011, and will premiere in London on March 10, 2011. The film follows the young British hope, Tommy Hill, while also revealing the portrait of James Ellison, Josh Brookes and Gary Mason.

"British Superbikes is motorcycle racing at its very best and this film shows that brilliantly. It's amazing to see BSB on the cinema screen. It's a massive sport with a great following - now hopefully people who don't know it that well can see what an incredible event it is,” Tommy Hill said.

Aside form capturing the on-track action, the film goes behind the scenes to follow the drama among wives, girlfriends, teammates and managers.

“I wanted to capture the emotion and passion of motorcycle racing – a classic motorcycle racing film that might be set in the 2010 season but can still be fresh in years to come,” said the film’s writer, producer and director Mark Sloper of 400 TV, while adding "I also wanted it to appeal to people outside of the motorcycle industry and fan-base. And I wanted to try and change outsiders’ perceptions of motorcycling.” 

Along with the stars of the film, pop legend and Albert Square’s most recent addition, David Essex will be attending the movie’s West End premiere at the Empire Leicester Square on March 10, 2011, more than thirty years after he played the starring role in the cult British biker film Silver Dream Racer, to which ‘I, Superbiker’ is dedicated and from which the film makers drew their inspiration.
