Honda's CX bikes have never been exactly famed for their beauty, and some say they appealed to riders only because they somehow borrowed from the nifty looks of the Moto Guzzi machinery. However, in the hands of creative customizers, these motorcycles have always been brought to a greater glory. And to prove this, here's a very nifty piece of German CX magic.
This nifty machine comes from the garage of Kingston Custom, ran by Dirk Oehlerking. Unfortunately Dirk did not provide us with details on this nifty build, so we can only assume we're looking at CX500, given the shape of the tank; CX experts are in fact most welcome to shed some light in the matter.
The Honda went through a nice process of cleaning and the result is a truly tidy piece of machinery. The airbox and the bulky side covers were tossed and conical filters came in place, leaving the rear underseat space free of any clutter and boldly showing the rear fender.
The original fat seat was replaced with a thin solo one, with a nifty bespoke tan finish to match the rest of the bike. The frame and bodyparts received an elegant copper-bronze finish, with the hybrid Com-Star rims getting a subtle cream pinstripe accent matching the tank and the exhaust wraps.
Lowered bars with retro tan grips and a classic-looking headlight casing are contrasting with the steel-braided brake lines, the transparent lowers and mini windscreen, but the overall result is a sleek bike with noble looks.
