Uber-Retro: Audi A1 quattro Unveiled

We don’t know if we should be happy or not right now, since Audi has just revealed the retro-tastic A1 quattro, the most powerful version of the sub-compact, paying tribute to the legendary Ur-Quattro. The problem is that this might actually be what was thought to be the RS1, and they are only going to make 333 units, starting next year.

The first all-wheel drive A1 is powered by a tuned version of he 2.0-liter TFSI engine, developing 256 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 350 Nm (258.2 lb-ft) between 2,500 and 4,500 rpm. This is sent via a six-speed manual (!!) gearbox to the quattro permanent all-wheel drive system. The standard sprint take 5.7 seconds, while top speed is 245km/h (152mph).

All models sold will be finished in Glacier White metallic with a high-gloss black accent for the roof and other details. It’s also got 18-inch center locking retro alloys and an RS-style body kit.
