“Uber Moron” Parks Toyota Prius Inside London Train Station

The lack of love between taxi drivers and Uber drivers remains constant and undying. The latest photo to draw the attention of the British media just goes to prove that.

Shared on Twitter by cabbie Steven Naylor, the pic shows a Toyota Prius parked inside the Barking train station in east London. The car sits right on the concourse, by the ticket barriers, while police officers and staff look confused. The area has been cleared of passengers, so there is no sense of panic in the image.

“Another brainless Uber Moron drives on the concourse at Barking station,” the taxi driver writes in the caption of the pic. As if to prove a point: Uber drivers are so dumb that they’re expected to do dumb stuff like this.

However, the reality may be different from what it seems: while it’s true that the Uber dude drove the car into the train station, taking advantage of the lack of bollards on the pavement, he may have had a solid reason for it. According to the police, he told them that he was being threatened by his passenger, so he thought the train station would provide a safe haven.

“At 12.20am yesterday, officers were called to Barking station after reports of a taxi being driven and parked on the station concourse,” a British Transport Police spokesman tells the Daily Mail. “Upon arrival, it was reported that the driver of the taxi had been threatened by his passenger and, fearing for his safety, then drove his vehicle slowly into the station.”

In other words, he made sure he drove in such a way as to not hurt anyone. But here’s the strange part: “no arrests have been made,” the police say. If the driver had been in real danger and / or under threats from his passenger, one assumes the passenger would be carried out in handcuffs.

An investigation is underway.
