UAE Oil Tycoon Had Lotec Build this One-Of-A-Kind Sportscar for $3.4 Million

In 1962, Kurt Lotterschmid founded German sportscar manufacturer Lotec. Seven years later they started making race cars and some time later turned their attention to modifications for Porsches, with the Mercedes-Benz aftermarket parts following next. It’s no wonder the same company handled one of the most expensive vehicles on the market.

This one-of-a-kind sportscar is not just a unique vehicle a loaded oil baron once commissioned for; it’s the example of proper engineering. In 1990, Lotec was asked to create the fastest car in the world. It took them five years to deliver, and in 1995, when they handled the car new, it was priced at around $3.4 million. That’s a lot of cash for the car even today. Was it worth it?

A 5.6-liter Mercedes-Benz V8 powers the 1995 Lotec C1000. The engine was fitted with two turbochargers for a total output of 1,000 horsepower. To make those rims spin, it feeds with a mixture of unleaded gas and aviation fuel. It comes with a Hewland 5-speed racing transmission and four arm AP IMSA racing brakes, to properly handle all that power.

Let us not forget, we are talking about the early 1990s here. The body consists of carbon fiber and Aerospace material frame, which makes the whole car weigh slightly less than a Mazda Miata and around the same as a Mini Cooper. Quite impressive for a machine capable of hitting the 0 to 62 mph in 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 262 mph.

We are clearly dealing with one of the rarest, most powerful automobiles with a commanding presence and impressive performance figures. The sportscar is currently on sale at Lamborghini Carolinas dealership in North Carolina and has a price tag of $1.2 million. The value itself comes as a surprise, considering it took almost three times more to be manufactured.
