Dutch submarine manufacturer U-Boat Worx recently announced a new addition to its fleet and it claims it is the fastest one in its lineup.
The Super Sub is touted as the most hydrodynamic sub on the market and it is the first product in the company’s custom submarine program, which allows owners to be part of the design process and create bespoke submersibles.

With a length of 17.3 ft (5.2 m) and a height of 7.5 ft (2.2 m), the Super Sub has a capacity of three people (two passengers and one pilot) and has a long tail and an advanced wing design. It packs a 62 kWh battery and the Dutch company boasts on the sub featuring a luxury supercar interior.

As far as the performance of the sub goes, U-Boat Works claims its Super Sub is five knots faster than your average submersible and two knots faster than the top speed of the bottlenose dolphin. It can reach speeds of 8 knots (9 mph or 14.8 kph), it can dive to depths of 984 ft (300 m), and it can keep an almost 360-degree view.

Its propulsion system consists of four thrusters that deliver a total of 60 kW (80 hp) and allow for 30-degree climbs and dives.

U-Boat Worx placed the clear, fully acrylic pressure hull at the front, which offers panoramic views, without being obstructed by any components such as batteries, ballast tanks, and so on.

The Super Sub has a movable trim weight system so when the pilot wants to make a steep dive, the trim weight at the back slides forward, displacing the center of gravity.

While we have no pricing for the Super Sub submarine yet, U-Boat Worx says the first model is already sold and will be delivered in 2023. The company claims the new sub sets a new bar for the luxury, adventurer underwater exploration market.
