Tyler Perry Uses His Personal Seaplane to Fly in Supplies to the Bahamas

Hurricane Dorian hit the Bahamas last weekend as a Category 5 storm, leaving behind a trail of unprecedented damage and loss of life. Movie mogul Tyler Perry is here to help out, whichever way he can.

Perry has a reputation in the industry for being an amazing, generous guy who’s always willing to help someone in need, whether it’s an unknown actress who took out a billboard to get his attention, to buying one of his leading ladies, Tiffany Hadish, a brand new Tesla Model X because she said she wanted one.

This time, he’s putting his personal seaplane to good use, flying it packed with supplies for the people in the Bahamas, TMZ has learned.

Hurricane relief is not the kind of thing celebrities advertise, except when they’re trying to raise awareness and encourage others to do the same, or when they’re shamelessly bragging. Perry, it would seem, believes acting quietly on this particular occasion is the best way to go about it because he hasn’t said anything on his social media about it.

TMZ says that the plane is usually based in Nassau, so Perry has a connection to the place. He’s already made 2 flights in and out of the Abaco Islands, which were the hardest hit by Dorian.

“Perry hopes to send several more shipments,” the celebrity publication says. “Tyler's providing the Abaco residents with much-needed water, juice, sleeping bags, diapers, various hygiene products and a lot of other basic necessities. On the return trips they brought back 7 passengers, including small children, a pregnant woman and others who needed medical attention.”

This is the exact opposite of what actress Sofia Vergara did, for example: she flew out of the Bahamas on a private jet packed with family members, and posed for a smiling picture she captured with “Bye Bye Dorian,” sparking cries of outrage.

In his most recent Facebook post, Perry does hint that he will contribute in one way or another to hurricane relief after Dorian. He says the people of Bahamas welcomed him as one of their own and promises that he “will be there to do whatever I can to help you rebuild stronger and better.”
