Ty Howard Tests the KTM 1190 RC8 R Track

KTM support rider Ty Howard has recently taken the new KTM 1190 RC8 R to the track to test it in preparation for his race season. A video documenting the way Howard put the racebike through its paces has been released by the North American division of KTM, and you can watch it below this article.

You can see the Texan rider really enjoying his time aboard the RC8 R Track bike. Judging from the fact that Howard is currently holding 10 track records, his impressions are to be trusted.

Meanwhile, we’ll remind you the race-spec bike is produced in a strictly limited number of units for those who want to use their 1190 RC8 R exclusively on the racetrack.

The bike is factory-homologated for Superstock and built to be "Ready to Race" by the KTM Racing Division, with all the goodies from the KTM PowerParts, and equipped, of course, with everything that makes the KTM superbike so successful — crowned with the IDM manufacturer's title 2010.

Thus, this pure bred sports-oriented bike is compatible with the FIM Superstock homologation and can therefore be used in official championships.

While the KTM 1190 RC8 R is available at $16,499, the Track version like Howard recently tested retails for $19,999.

"Riders who are regularly on the race track often invest a lot of time and money to prepare their sports machine in the best possible way. In the case of the RC8 R Track, the KTM Racing Department takes over this role. The “Track” directly developed and produced by the RC8 Motorsport Department is the perfect two cylinder Superbike for hobby riders - like those competing in various championships,” KTM brags.
