Back in 1999, Houston, Texas was the host of a “gathering of horsepower-aholics” called TX2K. Now this high-octane secret society is celebrating its 15th year of existence with the TX2K14 and we’re here to bring you the atmosphere via the two videos below.
The clips shows the action that took place on March 12, the first day of the event. This takes us to the Texas World Speedway for a host of drag races. The novelty brought by the 2014 edition is the rolling start. In fact, what you see below are the Roll Racing Nationals.
You will see plenty of machines that water your technical mouth here, from good all’ American muscle with a Mopar badge to a host of Nissan GT-Rs, with the latter obviously aiming to take over the place. While most of the participants had an awesome time battling out on the Texas oval, there was one Evo that experiences serious engine issues.
Nonetheless, the guys also held a night meet - one thing led to another and the guys started street racing. At a certain point, the local highways saw up to four cars battling it out at a time, as shown in the clip below. Expect forced induction to be the natural pathway here.
As for the TX2K14 full schedule, the Texas World Speedway also hosts races on Thursday, March 13. Friday will see the participants take their rides to the Lonestar Motorsports Park for dyno sessions and the sunset is set to mark another night meet at the same location.
Over the coming weekend, the TX2K14 will stay at the Lonestar Motorsports Park for drag racing. Prepare for some bewildering standing starts!
