Two-Tone 2020 McLaren Speedtail Pops Up for Sale at $4.8 Million

Back in 2018, McLaren announced it would be making only 106 Speedtails, which is the same number of units as its predecessor, the McLaren F1. One of those 106 units can be yours – today.

In the world of ultra-luxury, nothing sells better than exclusivity, a lesson most high-end carmakers have long learned and put into practice. The higher the demand and the more limited the production, the higher the price, so one shouldn’t wonder that a McLaren F1, for instance, can sell for as much as $21 million between collectors.

Given its limited run and impressive specs, the Speedtail is just as rare a bird. But as luck would have it, there’s a chance the world’s millionaires can still nab one, even if they’re sold out: someone out of Hamburg, Germany, is selling theirs.

A McLaren is a striking sight all on its own, but this one is even more so, thanks to a unique paint job that would best be described as two-tone or ombre. It starts as a metallic dark lizard green at the front, with undertones of deep electric blue, and it merges into full black at the rear. The striking paintwork is further highlighted by orange accents throughout, and they carry into the brown leather interior.

The listing with James Edition notes that this Speedtail is in used condition, though it has only 125 km (78 miles) on the clock. It doesn’t mention anything else about the three-seater, save to say that it’s available right away and more details will be provided upon direct inquiry.

The asking price is €3,439,655 or $4,849,212, nearly two times the starting price it was sold at by McLaren. Then again, given the rarity of these hypercars and their claimed top speed of 403 kph (250 mph), it wouldn’t be that far fetched to presume an interested party will come along to claim it as their own. After all, the Christmas season is the best to show some love – to yourself and others.
