Two Retro Police Bikes from the UK

Here's a sweet glimpse back in time, with two bikes which used to be used by the police forces in the UK and who reportedly sold well outside their home market.

Triumph "SAINT"Norton "Interpol"
We're looking at a Triumph and a Norton machines. The Triumph is a Thunderbird 6T, manufactured at the Meriden factory, and customized to suit the needs of the British and Commonwealth police forces. These machines have been built until 1983, when Triumph whet bankrupt.

The bike was nicknamed SAINT, in the purest British tradition, SAINT stood for Stop Anything In No Time and it's obvious that officers who were in the force back then enjoyed it quite a lot, as it was nimble and comfortable.

As for the Norton, we're dealing with a Commando, modified by Neale Shilton at the request of Norton Chairman Dennis Poore. Shilton did his job and so the Norton Commando became the "Interpol", making it's first appearance in 1969.

It appears like the Interpol was received quite well and production went along with the fairings and other multiple accessories installed off-site.

Nowadays both brands are still playing a big card on retro looks, despite the more advanced technologies used. However, one juts doesn't get to see such radios any more...
