Two New Electric Cars from Reva in Frankfurt

Electric car manufacturer REVA will launch two new M1 vehicles at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA), opened to the public between September 17-27. The electric cars, however, will be revealed to the press on Wednesday, September 16. During the vehicles’ launches in Frankfurt, REVA's website will go live and customers can register online on the priority list for the new cars. First is the REVA NXR, a four-seat, three-door hatchback family car suitable for urban driving. The model can be ordered at the show, with production scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2010. The second model is the REVA NXG, the company’s model for 2011, which is a sporty two-seater with a targa roof. Another world premiere for REVA at the 2009 IAA is the launch of REVive, a technology that allows the customer to just telephone or SMS REVA for an instant remote recharge. Both the REVA NXR and the REVA NXG will feature the REVive telematics technology. Further technology and pricing announcements will be made at the IAA. Bangalore-based company REVA's vehicles are currently sold or being test marketed in 24 countries worldwide. REVA has the largest deployed fleet of electric cars on the market, with over 3,000 EVs on the road and more than 70 million kilometres of user experience. The company is building a new ultra low carbon vehicle assembly plant in Bangalore, with a capacity of 30,000 units per year. autoevolution will be attending the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of these vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions.
