Curiosity may have killed the cat, but we can't help but be overly curious about the future of supercar parading in Monaco.
The city-state isn't the world's only high-octane capital, but, unlike Dubai or London, for instance, its ultra-tight roads can lead to tricky situations.
The latest example of this comes from the video below, which, among others, shows a pair of McLaren 12C drivers trying to get attention on Monaco. The revving, tire-smoking launches and other relatively small stunts of the sort are no longer special, so the pair of Woking supercar drivers figured they should do something else to determine car spotters to point their cameras at them.
As a result, they stopped traffic, just so they could line up next to each other and go for an impromptu flaming exhaust battle.
While the spotters, who were already in the area, obviously turned to the fiery brawl, you can hear the cars behind the Macs honking in an attempt to determine the clowns to let them pass.
Returning to the prescient question mentioned in the intro, since Monaco traffic seems to get busier by the year, we can't help but wonder what people such as these 12C drivers will do once circus moments such as the one mentioned above will no longer be enough to stand out.
Sure, coming up with crazy wraps and tinted headlights is one way of staying ahead in the attention race, but such plans won't last forever.
Don't get us wrong, we're always up for a little play, but ignoring common sense, as well as Monaco's strong police force, just so you can have your ten seconds of glory is simply too much.
While the episode mentioned here may seem more or less dangerous, it's certainly a perfect example of the why-we-can't-have-nice-things trend. For one thing, here's how such a fiery exhaust battle can be organised without causing trouble.
