The finalists for the 2014 World Car of the Year Award were just announced and BMW has not one but two models on the list, the 4 Series Coupe and the i3.
Out of the plethora of manufacturers that entered the contest, the Munich-based company is the only one that has 2 cars in the final, defeating its German rivals like Audi that has only one nominee and Mercedes-Benz that didn’t make the cut.

Amongst the other 10 cars you’ll find names such as Cadillac CTS, Citroen C4 Picasso, Ford Fusion, Infiniti Q50, Jeep Cherokee, Lexus IS, Mazda 3, Peugeot 308 and Skoda Octavia.

This is yet another confirmation that the decision to set the Coupe 3 Series aside, in a completely new model, was good, the 4 Series Coupe already winning a couple of awards of its own and making a name for itself.

As for the i3, few things left unspoken by the complimenting reviews it received. It is, by far, the best EV offering out there at the moment, bringing zero emissions, premium quality and BMW dynamics together for the first time.

The winners will be announced at the New York Auto Show on April 17.
