As we reported earlier this week, the 2 Series Coupe will be getting 2 new diesel engines this spring, as BMW confirmed today. Starting with March 2014 the range will get the 218d and 225d models.
The 218d will be using a 2-liter turbodiesel engine rated at 143 HP and 320 Nm of torque. This models will be fitted, as standard with a manual 6-speed gearbox. The 8-speed automatic will be an optional feature. Fuel consumption will be around 4.3 l/100 km (54 mpg) minus 0.2 liters for the automatic gearbox (57 mpg). The 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint will be done in 8.9 seconds with the manual and 8.6 seconds with the automatic.

The 225d, on the other hand, will have an even more powerful 2-liter diesel engine rated at 218 HP and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque. This new model will become the most powerful diesel one in the range, for the moment, doing the 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint in just 6.3 seconds with the 8-speed automatic gearbox.
