For businesses, social media is the perfect medium to get the pulse of the market. Provided they know what to look for and how to crunch the numbers and use the results, companies could learn a lot from the likes of Facebook, Twitter and so on.

Like what make, for instance, people most often associate with their dream car on Twitter, and in which state.

A team from a website called Autowise used trends software with direct access to geotagged twitter data and tracked over 100,000 tweets that contained the words dream car and #dreamcar. They then compiled a map showing what car is most identified with those terms, and in which American state.

The research takes into account data collected from July to September 2019 and shows that the vehicle most associated with the term dream car is the Tesla Model S. This happens in 20 American states, including the entire western seaboard, and going all the way to Colorado and six other states on the east coast.

Runner up in this list is the Ford Mustang, which is a dream car for people in 13 states, including Iowa, Missouri and Arkansas. Range Rover (unnamed model) completes the top three positions, being a Twitter-favorite for residents of 6 states.

There are three other cars on this top six list, namely Jeep Wrangler (4 states), Chevrolet Corvette (4 states) and Chevrolet Camaro (3 states). As per Autowise, “no other vehicle beat out those top 6 in any state in regards to a dream car pick.”

You can have a look at how the dream car chatter is distributed across the U.S. in the map attached above.
