For one thing, this is but a pixel exercise, showing what could happen when an artist's imagination builds on the turbo lead displayed by Porsche and then runs wild.
Sacrilege aside, a twin-turbo 918 Spyder would only continue a trend that started with the Porsche Panamera, moving on to the Cayenne, the 911 and now the 718 Boxster - the Cayman will follow shortly, ensuring the entire line-up has now moved to downsized engines.
While Porsche has closed the 918 chapter (production has ended), with the 608 hp racing-derived 4.6-liter V8 at the middle of the car remaining naturally aspirated, the aftermarket world would love to get its hands on one of the 918 examples of the car and take it down this blasphemous road.
You see, the TT trend infiltrating Porsche's line-up mentioned above was our take on the matter. Khyzyl Saleem, the artist who came up with this image, says he actually found inspiration in Bisimoto Engineering's contraptions.
Among other street and track efforts, the company has a fetish for abducting 911s and gifting them with twin-turbo setups that can be seen from afar, just like the one present on this 918 Spyder.
Here's to hoping that, once the 918 Spyder ages and tuners dare enter its territory, nobody messes with its atmospheric V8. For one thing, the unit is derived from the 3.4-liter V8 that animated the Porsche RS Spyder. You know, the LMP2 class racecar that facilitated four constructor championship titles.
Delivering 132 hp per liter and being able to rev up to a screaming 9,150 rpm are just some of the delights this powerplant needs to be praised for. In fact, the engine is so spectacular that its top-mounted exhaust pipes barely do it justice.
