Twin-Turbo Mustang GT Drag Races Dodge Demon, Destruction Occurs

We are currently waiting for the Dodge Demon to reach its full quarter-mile potential: the quickest runs to date sit at 9.9s, still far from the promised 9.65s, which should be achievable when the cooler fall weather arrives. However, we constantly like to bring along drag racing adventures that help Mopar fans pass the time, hence the one we've prepared for today.

One of our favorite drag racing YouTubers, the aficionado who runs the Demonology channel, has recently taken his Demon to the drag strip, with the highlight of his rather intense session (there were ten runs in two hours) being a battle against an S550-generation Mustang GT packing a twin-turbo kit.

We'll start by mentioning that the Demon we have here comes in stock form, albeit packing the goodies from the Demon Crate. So we're looking at an 840-pony machine sipping race fuel with skinny front tires.

As for the Blue Oval machine, its 5.0-liter V8 has left its natural aspiration behind, in favor of a twin-turbo kit supplied by Hellion. The setup is pretty brutal, as for instance, the exhaust ends soon after leaving the turbo, with this obviously helping the car in its relationship to the scales.

Thus, the Coyote now delivers around 900 horses, at least according to what its owner claims.

Since we mentioned the vehicle's weight reduction, we'll let you know that the 'Stang packs multiple CFRP (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic) parts, such as the trunk lid, along with a stripped interior, with the thing weighing it at about 3,400 lbs. For the record, the Demon tips the scales at around 4,300 lbs.

If you're willing to skip the usual YouTube chat, you can jump to the 3:35 point of the clip, as this is where the racing action kicks off. Note that the Mopar machine also races other sweet contraptions, such as an LS-swapped Mazda RX-7.
