Twin-Turbo Lamborghini Gallardo by Underground Racing

The tuning business astounds us again with Underground Racing’s twin-turbocharged Lamborghini Gallardo “Race Version”. And it’s not just a show car, as a mysterious client named Jonah actually did not settle for the stock 500 hp V10 engine of the Gallardo.

The man wanted more power, so his twin-turbo Gallardo now produces a stunning 1500 WHP at 30 psi on VP C16 racing fuel. Considering a drivetrain loss of around 25 percent, it might be safe to say that the twin-turbo Gallardo is producing 1875 HP at the crank, and that’s quite amazing.

The car does a quarter mile in under 10 seconds and crosses the finish line at a speed of more than 160 mph. Just imagine the owner’s reaction when he drove the modified Gallardo for the first time, especially considering he hasn't been to a drag strip in over 10 years.

The Gallardo, named after a famous breed of fighting bull, is Lamborghini's most-produced model to date, with over 5000 built in its first three years of production. A new one costs about $180,000 to $210,000.

The Gallardo offers two choices of transmissions, a conventional (H-Box) six-speed manual transmission, and an advanced six-speed electro-hydraulically controlled semi-automatic robotized manual, which Lamborghini abbreviates to "E-gear". The "E-gear" allows the driver to make shifts much faster than a manual transmission would. The driver shifts up and down via paddles behind the steering wheel, and does not and cannot manually actuate the clutch.
