Twin-Turbo Dodge Charger "SRT 392" Does Amazing 8.7s Quarter-Mile Run

When it comes to making the most out of the potential of the Dodge Charger, there are two kinds of aficionados. The first patiently waits for the mother ship to drop warranty-augmented bombs such as the SRT Hellcat Widebody, while the second likes to take the matter into its own hands and come up with extreme builds. Well, as you've already noticed in the title above, we're here to discuss the latter.

Speaking of the title, this isn't an SRT 392 despite featuring the 6.4-liter HEMI, hence the quotes in the title above.

More importantly, that V8 has left its naturally aspirated factory state long behind. However, instead of going for the traditional power adder, namely the blower, the owner of this sedan went for a pair of snails.

While the supercharger comes with an instant response, a more linear power delivery and a sweeter soundtrack, the turbo is more efficient.

And while I'm not sure about the muscle number delivered by the Mopar toy, its quarter-mile number speaks for itself. To be more precise, the four-door recently managed to complete the 1,320 feet sprint in 8.76 seconds, with a trap speed of 164 mph. Heck, the latter is the kind of velocity number a stock supercar would deliver in the half-mile.

Of course, the Dodge features a ton of mods that are there to ensure it will get from one end of the strip to the other in one piece, from the small wheel rear axle (this allows for beefy sidewall drag-savvy tires to be instaled) to the paracture attached to its bottom. And, thanks to the piece of footage at the bottom of the page, you can check out the said 1/4-mile sprint.

PS: Here's to hoping all those of you who drive seriously built machines will use this vid as an example and head over to the strip when the right foot starts itching.
