The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro kicked off the year with a bang, as the muscle car was gifted with a twin-turbo setup thanks to the crew over at Redline Motorsports. So far, we've only been shown a dyno clip, but the time has now come to see the forced-fed LT1 engine doing its stuff at the drag strip.
The Florida-based aftermarket developer has now put its TT Camaro SS to quarter mile work. The Chevy pulled a 10.55s run at 142 mph.

Given the fact that the fastest 2016 Camaro SS out there can complete the same task in 9.6 seconds, that might not sound like too much of a feat. Nevertheless, we need to mention the 9s car was running a nitrous setup that was aimed specifically at delivering an impressive drag strip sprint.

The car we have here, on the other hand, is a mere rolling test bed for an upcoming setup that promises to deliver much more.

For one thing, the twin-turbo setup used here is a piece of development hardware, not being perfectly adapted for the stock engine it's installed on.

Redline Motorsports explains they've prepared a built 427 (those of you reading this on the other side of the pond should know we're talking about a 7-liter engine).

To get an idea of how... relaxed things were during this pass, we'll mention the turbos were delivering no more than 9 lbs of boost.

In this setup, the Corvette-borrowed 6.2-liter V8 delivers 657 hp and 633 lb-ft (858 Nm) of twist at the rear wheels. Given these figures, the mid-10s pass was only normal.

For the sake of comparison, we want to explain this Camaro SS now offers similar 1/4-mile performance to a bone stock Ferrari 488 GTB. Unfortunately for the slab of America, the Prancing Horse at that link is also on its way to receiving a monstrous aftermarket setup from Bahrain-based Ekanoo Racing. And yes, we'd love to see apples racing oranges down the strip.
