Twenty BMWs Coming in Five Years

German manufacturers seem to be determined to flood the market with new models in the years to come. As if somebody gathered BMW, Mercedes and Audi executives in one place and told them “strength lies in numbers,” all three manufacturers have now stated their plans to release models by the dozen in the years to come.

The last to join the pack in search of new volume is BMW, who, together with new body styles for existing models, facelifts and new programs, will release by 2015 some 20 new cars. About as many as Mercedes Benz and half the size of the new Audi fleet.

The new model range will debut with the launch of the 5 Series Touring later this year. A new version of the X3 will hit the market in 2011. The new 6 series, in both convertible and coupe versions, will also be launched in 2011, as is the case with the new 1 Series five-door.

According to BMWblog, 2012 will be adorned by several BMW launches as well, starting with the coupe and convertible versions of the 1 Series launched a year before. Two versions of the M5, the sedan and Touring, will also be launched in 2012.

Perhaps the year with the most launches in this five years time frame, 2012 will also see the advent of Gran Coupe and the M version of the 6 Series.

2013 will be the birth year for the Megacity vehicle, as well as of the new interpretations of the 3 Series (convertible and GT).

Of course, there are perhaps more models being prepped that we don't know about yet. More will be revealed as time passes by.
