TW Steel Signs Sponsorship Deal with Renault F1 Team

After ING Bank left the sponsoring partnership with the Renault F1 team following the crash-gate scandal and the sanctions Flavio Briatore and Pat Symonds received for fixing the Formula One race from Singapore last year, the French team ran the upcoming races with an almost immaculate Renault livery.

With dust settling after the aforementioned scandal and subsequent negative impact it had on the French F1 team, new business opportunities arose and Renault didn’t hesitate to jump in on the deal.

An official press statement released today by Renault F1 Team announces the start on a new sponsorship collaboration with Dutch watchmaker TW Steel. The partnership was signed over a three-year period and will come into effect as soon as this weekend’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Until the end of the 2012 season, the Renault R29 Formula One car will display its TW Steel branding on the nose cone, front wing flaps and on the leading edge of the sidepods. The team’s uniform’s will be updated as well, with logos appearing on both the staff’s and drivers’ suits.

We are delighted to join forces with TW Steel as the official timing partner of the Renault F1 Team. Over the next three years we look forward to building a close and dynamic relationship as we strive to reach the highest level of performance on the racetrack. The partnership brings great value for both the Renault F1 Team and TW Steel and confirms the team’s positive outlook for the years ahead. I have no doubt that we will enjoy an exciting and successful future together,” said Jean-Francois Caubet, Renault F1 Team Managing Director.

At the signing of the agreement, Jordy Cobelens, CEO of TW Steel, added: “I believe our partnership with the Renault F1 Team provides a tremendous global platform for TW Steel. Formula One has immense appeal for a young, ambitious brand such as ours and we look forward to activating our relationship with the Renault F1 Team and ultimately engaging the consumer worldwide through a targeted marketing program. This is an exciting time to be involved in Formula One and we look forward to continued success both on and off-track through our new partnership.

An official introductory photocall with Renault F1’s new sponsor will be arranged on Friday October 30, on location at Abu Dhabi.
