After going bust then coming back again, TVR has one car to its name. The Griffith might be a return to form for the British sports car manufacturer, but as far as styling is concerned, the newcomer can’t hold a candle to the Sagaris.
Revealed at the MPH03 Autoshow, then upgraded just in time for the Birmingham Motor Show, the Sagaris went into production in 2005. The assembly line went the following year, with TVR believed to have manufactured close to 200 examples of the breed during this period.

The exclusive nature of the Sagaris and the over-the-top design made it an instant classic with enthusiasts, though the fiberglass-bodied sports car was more than a replacement for the TVR T350. The 4.0-liter straight-six engine with more than 400 horsepower on tap is the party piece of the Sagaris, along with a curb weight of 1,078 kilograms (2,371 pounds).

In addition to being rare, the Sagaris is a rare bird even in the classified ads. Given these circumstances, Grex Automotive came up with a kit car with everything you could wish for, except an engine and transmission. Available from €49,990, the Grex Sagaris comes with mount towers designed to fit the LS-series V8 from General Motors as standard.

If American muscle isn’t to your liking, the company offers many other options “at extra cost,” including mount towers for longitudinal V6 and inline-6 powerplants. Based in Gran Canaria, Spain, the people at Grex are much obliged to sell ten rolling-chassis kits in the United States of America.

Called Sagaris GT in this specification, the car weighs in at 2,371 pounds (1,075 kilograms) without the oily bits. The LS3 with 485 horsepower on tap enables an acceleration to 60 miles per hour in 3.5 seconds, with top speed coming in at 185 miles per hour. Can you imagine what an LS9 with 638 horsepower would be like in this application?

On an ending note, do €49,990 plus the expenses for the engine and transmission make the Grex Sagaris an interesting choice as a weekend warrior?
