TVR Preparing Comeback, U.S. Market Included

TVR, the mad ‘British” automaker, now in the possession of Russian owner Nikolai Smolenski is waiting to make an explosive comeback, as Pistonheads reports.

It seems that the a new TVR model will come to the world in the following months, with the July Goodwood festival of speed as an expected world premiere date.

According to Pistonheads, the beast will be powered by an U.S.-sourced V8 crate engine, most likely from Ford or Chevy’s stable, expected to produce somewhere around 500 horses. Apart from that, the car will respect the “traditional TVR values”. So, we expect the upcoming car to be as mad as Hannibal Lecter (to say the least). The new bespoke semi-pure automotive creation is expected to have a starting price of approximately $108,000. No further details about the car's other technical features are known.

Smolenski is expected to turn TVR into a global brand, introducing the marque to multiple new markets, including the U.S. Maybe he decided to use a hands-on approach and bring the TVR stateside himself - back in 2007, a wave of rumors were indicating that Smolenski would sell the company to Adam Burdette and Jean Michel Santacreu, who intended to export TVRs to the U.S. market.

TVR’s website also looks like its preparing for a social reintegration: visitors are greeted by a Mad Orange Sagaris who says “website launching soon”. We tried to communicate with the car but it did not seem willing to respond. It looks like we'll just have to wait...
