While New England Patriots were busy kicking Seattle Seahawks’ posterior in Glendale, Arizona on Sunday, automakers around US were kicking each other’s marketing intuition by creating the best commercials. Chevrolet was quite unique this year, since the American carmaker asked a simple question: what would happen if all the millions of NFL fans watching the game would have their cable service turned off?
Chevy’s Super Bowl XLIX ad for its all-new Colorado truck aired right after kickoff, giving all of America a collective scare. The 30-second clip shows a broken image and then cutting to complete dead air which for a moment there seemed had everybody actually believing there’s a problem with their cable service. Well, at least that was the point, since we can’t say we truly bought it.

Nevertheless, taking a fast glimpse on what people tweeted in that moment, you’d say it worked for quite a bunch of folks. NFL fans watching were, however, spared from suffering an actual heart attack as the ad returned to Chevy talking about its new truck's built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi feature. The point is that the car is that cool, it would actually save humanity in the case cable service would go down.

Of course, all this would happen assuming it wasn’t mainly Americans watching the game, expecting that everybody only uses TV to watch stuff and, most of all, accepting people would watch the Super Bowl match while driving their trucks.

As to the car itself, the Colorado is Chevy's first new mid-size pickup in ages, with fresh looks, new tech and convenience features galore. You’ll get the stock unit for about $21,000, say the video below actually convinced you to buy a new workhorse.
