Turner Motorsport Preparing Racing BMW M3 Frozen Gray Coupe

Back in June BMW’s North American division released the limited edition M3 Frozen Gray Coupe, after the automaker had teased enthusiasts with an image that only showed a part of the vehicle’s front.

Only 30 units of the M3 Frozen Gray were offered, with all of them being sold in 12 minutes - BMW had created a dedicated hotline for retailing the vehicle.

The M3 Frozen Gray offers a special matte gray paint and a set of performance upgrades, but nothing truly special in terms of dynamics (compared to other M3s). The vehicle is fitted with the optional Competition Package that includes a 10 mm lowered suspension, 19 inch wheels with wider offset and a tweak for the Electronic Damping Control as well as M Dynamic Mode. The car retailed for $77,600.

So, we are dealing with a creature that seems to be aimed at offering exclusivity, rather than superior performance. Fortunately, the crew at Turner Motorsport (a U.S. BMW specialist) had other plans, as M3Post reports. The company was the first U.S. customer to get one of the 30 examples of the vehicle and decided to modify it in order to make it more track-friendly.

The first step was to replace the vehicle’s factory stock rims with a set of 18x10 inch Volk Racing G2 Forged rims that come is a Formula Silver finish and use 275/35 Continental Grand-Am racing slick tires.

The next step will be to fit a new suspension that would offer the vehicle a superior handling and replace the brakes with beefier ones that can withstand the stress that comes with hot-lapping a racetrack.
