With the ongoing International Defence Exhibition & Conference in Abu Dhabi, the world’s biggest military gear makers are presenting their best creations. Among those to showcase their newest developments was also Turkish defense contractor FNSS who showed their mobile lab built in a 6x6 armored vehicle to be used as a scout for chemical warfare. While Hollywood stays busy constructing the best end-of-the-world scenarios for their upcoming movies, there’s other places where defense companies are in fact looking into developing machines that could be useful in similar real life disasters. Using chemical weapons on a battlefield is not only extremely dangerous and the war strategy most condemned by international organizations, but a real problem. The Syrian Revolution has been an ongoing conflict that unfortunately seems to be far from coming to an end. As of April 2014 the death toll had risen above 190,000, yet unoficial numbers look even worse. International organizations have accused forces on all sides of sever human rights violations, with many massacres occurring. It’s been publicly known that chemical weapons have been used many times during the conflict. Turkey is taking precautions
Even though during peacetime there was some success by international efforts to destroy some of the stockpiles Syria’s dictators accumulated, it’s quite obvious they are not all gone. This is exactly why Turkey is now developing an tank-like defense machine that rather looks like an apocalyptical last resort than something we should consider in the 21st century.

According to Popular Science, the new Par Chemical Biological Radioactive Nuclear (CBRN) Reconnaissance Vehicle is a light armored vehicle based on the Pars six-wheel-drive amphibious armored vehicle.

As opposed to its older brother, the chemical weapon scout is carrying half of the troops it would normally have on board. This way it makes space for a front-line chemical detection lab. It also has an additional grenade launcher or a machine gun that can be mounted on a turret outside, strictly for defense purposes.

The armored lab comes with three external sensors and a detachable device inside the vehicle’s glove box that can analyze solid or liquid samples. Further features such as the capability to detect radioactive material and bio-weapons are also part of this military machine.
