Turbocharged Ford XR6 Pulls 8-Second Quarter Mile

Three years from now, Ford Australia will no longer be making cars. A decision that upset a lot of lads from Down Under and us as well, because we'll be missing the Falcon and all its derivatives.
Especially the ute version, the sole distant descendant of the Ford Ranchero. But we're not here to talk about Ford's Aussie sinking ship, but a very special XR6 ute, that has been modified to take on the drag strips of Australia.

The one you're about to see below is powered by a de-stroked six-banger Ford Barra DOHC engine boosted by a huge Garrett GT55 turbo. Yes, there's no V8, but there's a lot of power going through that Powerglide two-speed transmission, which results in 8-second quarter mile runs.
