Tuned Vauxhall Astra/Corsa Available to Britons

British tuning company Thorney Motorsport has just unveiled a new series of customized Vauxhall Astra and Corsa VXRs, both of them available in two versions, VXR-S (Sport) and VXR-R (Race). The tuner will produce only 25 units of each variant, Carscoop wrote, with all models set to reach Vauxhall's dealer network this month. And because technical details, and particularly engine performance information, represent the most important features of an aftermarket vehicle, let's see some specifications for each of the aforementioned models.

First of all, the Vauxhall Astra VXR-S. The car comes with TMS uprated suspension springs, lowered by 30 mm, combined with TMS fast road geometry setup. The braking system is based on TMS uprated brake pads on both front and rear, working with 18-inch lightweight alloy wheels by Team Dynamics and 225/40YR18 Dunlop SportMaxx tires. The 0 to 100 km/hg acceleration is done in 5.2 seconds, the top speed of 160 mph (257.5 km/h) and the top output of 280 bhp underlining the engine's capacity to develop high performance. This model costs £22,995 OTR.

The Vauxhall Astra VXR-R sports a TMS race suspension, lowered b 40 mm, plus TMS Competition Limited Slip Differential and TMS race exhaust by Milltek Sport. While the wheels and tires are exactly the same as on the VXR-S version, the braking system is now based on a 4-piston racing brake kit capable of providing more braking power than the Sport counterpart. Engine performance highlights include 0 to 100 km/h acceleration done in 4.9 seconds, top speed of 170 mph (273.6 km/h) and maximum power of 300 bhp. Pricing starts at £26,295 OTR.

The Vauxhall Corsa VXR-S features almost the same modifications as the Astra VXR-S, including 18-inch lightweight alloy wheels and 30 mm-lowered suspension. However, the car is a bit slower than the Astra counterpart, as it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds, with a maximum speed of 150 mph (241.4 km/h). This version can be purchased for £18,295 OTR.

The Vauxhall Corsa VXR-R boasts, in its turn, approximately the same aftermarket upgrades as the race variant belonging to Astra, with engine performance pretty much the same. For instance, it can reach 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds and can run with a maximum speed of 160 mph (257.5 km/h). The Corsa VXR-R is available for as much as £22,495 OTR.
